Viewing 43319177 Kwinana festival attracts bumper crowd Sound Telegraph, Page: 14 Wednesday, 05 November 2008 Ref: 43319177 IT was a fair day for a festival when the Kwinana community turned out to enjoy a celebration of life and culture at Calista Oval on October 26. This year ’s annual Kwinana Festival attracted a bumper crowd and offered a program of entertainment designed to please the whole family. A Medina heritage walk, street parade, dance performances, animal farm and a daring chopper rescue by volunteer bush fire fighters were among the activities popular with visitors. Festival coordinator Christine Scambler said organisers were delighted with the turnout. "It was rewarding to see all the hard work put in by the committee come together in such a fantastic day," Mrs Scambler said. "The free children ’s rides sponsored by Kwinana Industries Council were a real highlight and the weather could not have been nicer." "Next year is our 55th anniversary festival and we plan to make it even bigger and better."
