            THE Kwinana Industrial Area has attracted an environmental award for 
            its Kwinana Industries Synergies Project, which saves hundreds of 
            thousands of tonnes of water, gases and waste each year.

            The Kwinana Industries Council project won the Corporate Business 
            Leading by Example category at the 2008 WA Environment Awards and 
            was a finalist in the Resource and Waste Management category.

            KIC spokesman Alan Gale said industry had dramatically reduced its 
            environmental impact by pooling resources, using waste products from 
            one company as raw materials for another and identifying mutually 
            beneficial and environmentally sustainable projects.
