Swan Catchment Council - Coastcare in the KIA

A partnership between the Kwinana Industries Council (KIC) and Swan Catchment Council (SCC), 'Coastcare in the KIA', commenced in 2006 to assist local government and community groups to deliver a range of coastal initiatives.

The SCC is a community-based regional group involved in the coordination and delivery of natural resource management activities in the Swan Region. One of 56 groups from around Australia, the SCC is helping to achieve a nation-wide approach to management and restoration of our environment.

As a major partner, the KIC is working with the SCC to assist local communities in participating in coastal natural resource management and on-ground works to improve the coastal and marine environments, an area highly valued by the community and industry.

The KIC's commitment to environmental leadership is demonstrated through the delivery of a range of initiatives such as training workshops that will strengthen the capacity of community volunteers to undertake coastal rehabilitation activities in a safe and effective manner.
